A few days ago when
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan confirmed that her husband
Abhishek Bachchan and she would headline the cast of debutant director Sarvesh Mewara’s ‘Gulab Jamun’, the couple’s fans went crazy with joy. However, this is not the first film that the couple was approached for together. Back in 2012, ad guru Prahlad Kakkar, who had been supportive of Aishwarya during her days as a model, had approached the Bachchan couple for his directorial debut, ‘Happy Anniversary’.
The film, revolving around the differences in a married couple’s life, was also expected to star
Amitabh Bachchan in the pivotal role of a marriage counsellor. However, it has been almost six years and the project doesn’t seem to have moved, although Kakkar, even today, hopes to make the film some day.
Bring this up with Abhishek, who has a choc-o-block year ahead, and he says, “There are a lot of films that get discussed. It’s unfortunate that some of them don’t see the light of day. It’s not in good taste to speak about them. It’s okay to just let those projects be and accept the fact that those projects won’t get made.”
However, when prodded about Gulab Jamun, the actor, who will flag off at least one of his home productions by the end of 2019, says, “Aishwarya and I liked the concept. I think Sarvesh is a very talented boy and he’s developing the narrative very well. We’re in the middle of scheduling the shoot and finalising other details.”
