Sanjay Leela Bhansali's latest release

'Gangubai Kathiawadi'

has been received a lot of appreciation and love from the masses. Now, in a recent conversation, the filmmaker shared that the film is very close to him as he has paid tribute to his father

Naveen Bhansali

with the movie.

SLB

said that he has incorporated the poster of a film produced by his father in 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. The film titled

'Jahazi Lootera'

was released in 1957.

Talking about the same, he said, "I paid tribute to my father as well. In two ways. One was making films on the kind of scale that he wanted – like 'Mughal-e-Azam'. And I also paid tribute to a film that he had made in 1958 (actually 1957) called 'Jahazi Lootera'. That is there as a poster on the theatre all through Gangubai. And so this was a film (Gangubai Kathiawadi) that was even closer to me because I was paying tribute to his film that I have never been able to see."

'Gangubai Kathiawadi' depicts the journey of a brothel-madam set in Mumbai's Kamathipura. It was released on February 25, 2022.
