Actor
Darshan Kumar
has left everyone impressed with his latest outings, ‘
Toofaan
’ and ‘The Family Man’ season 2. In an interview recently, Darshan opened up about how he landed a role in
Satish Kaushik’s ‘
Tere Naam
’ starring
Salman Khan and
Bhumika Chawla.
While speaking to a news portal, Darshan revealed that he was just 13 or 14 when he was ‘dragged’ into the audition for ‘Tere Naam’. Darshan played the role of
Kanak Sharma
, a college boy who was one of the three friends of Salman’s character.
Despite saying a no, Darshan said that his friends dragged him for the audition. He said that he gave the audition and got selected for the part. He went on to say that he grew up watching Salman’s films and signing his first film with the superstar looked like a dream. Darshan also recalled the moment when he was screamed at by Satish Kaushik. He even thought that he might be removed from the film as he was stuck while doing one scene. The actor said that he took 3-4 takes and finally managed to ace it.
In an interview with ETimes earlier, Darshan spoke about receiving mixed reactions from the audience for his role in ‘The Family Man’ season 2. He said, “The critics and the film fraternity appreciated my performance. While most of the audience loved my portrayal in the show, too, a certain section of the audience dropped comments like ‘doodh mangoge toh kheer denge, Hindustan ke taraf dekhoge toh cheer denge’ on my social media posts and they are still writing these comments, can you believe it? Even when I was putting up posts for ‘Toofaan’ people were writing things like ‘Major Sameer gaddaar’. But, as an actor, I feel blessed about it, because these viewers forgot that I’m an actor and the fact that I’m Indian. It was quite a challenging role to think and act against the country that you love the most; I take these reactions as a compliment.”
Darshan will be next seen in ‘Aashram 3’.
