Sonchiriya

' with director Abhishek Chaubey, who has to his credit films like 'Ishqiya', 'Dedh Ishqiya' and 'Udta Punjab'. In an interview with a daily, he revealed that he has always been keen on working with director and had been literally chasing him much before he finally bagged the film with him. This is the actor's first film with Chaubey.

Giving an insight into his equation with the director, he revealed that Chaubey is an unicorn and quite reclusive by nature. He was quite elated when the filmmaker approached him with a film offer when he was shooting for 'Kedarnath'. He knew he had to to do the film when he noticed that the entire script was ready during the narration. Sushant plays a dacoit from the region of

Chambal

. Film buffs are already raving about the trailer, which released a couple of weeks back. In the actor's own words, Sonchiriya, which is set in 1975, falls in the timeline between classics like '

Bandit Queen

' (1975) and 'Paan Singh Tomar' (2012). They have worked hard to retain the local dialects.

The film, which is slated to release on March 1, also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ashutosh Rana and Ranvir Shorey. Interestingly, Manoj will be seen reprising his role as the bandit Man Singh, a prominent character in Shekhar Kapur's 'Bandit Queen'.
