Director Priyadarshan has a packed schedule with three Akshay Kumar starrers back to back, including Hera Pheri 3, which was caught in the midst of a controversy that’s now settled down. The director is helming Bhooth Bangla co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi and Tabu, Haiwaan also featuring Saif Ali Khan and Hera Pheri 3, featuring its original cast — Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal.
With Bhooth Bangla at the editing stage, Haiwaan set to kick off in August, when asked about the status of Hera Pheri 3, Priyadarshan says, “The film is still at writing stage, but we plan to start it by March 2026.” Neeraj Vora had taken over as director for the second film installment of the cult film, and now Priyadarshan is back on the director’s seat. He says, “No matter how many films you make, people always say the original is the best. I’ve had a long career having directed nearly 100 films, and Hera Pheri is a film that I will be excited about till the day I retire.”
Speaking about Paresh Rawal’s return to the franchise, he says, “The issue was sorted between the producers [Akshay Kumar’s production house and Paresh Rawal]. It was a misunderstanding, but at the end of the day everything works out when artistes have good hearts.”
