Has Ranveer Singh’s 'Shaktimaan' been shelved? Amidst Deepika Padukone's 'Kalki 2898AD' exit row, hubby's third film scrapped: Reports

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly seen yet another high-profile film project fall through.

Just as social media was abuzz over his actress wife, Deepika Padukone's exit from Prabhas' 'Kalki 2898 AD' and 'Spirit', reports stated that Singh's much-discussed superhero film 'Shaktimaan' has been shelved.

Shaktimaan gets shelved

Deccan Chronicle reports that the film, an adaptation of the iconic TV show starring Mukesh Khanna, has allegedly been shelved due to unresolved creative decisions and production issues. The project, which was rumoured to have director Basil Joseph at the helm, did not move forward despite initial excitement.

A source close to the filmmaker alleged that the challenges of mounting a 'Shaktimaan' film left him 'disheartened' with ego clashes, budget excesses and roadblocks. The report quotes a source saying, "The project consumed two years of his life and left him vowing to stay away from Hindi cinema."

Ranveer's third movie to get shelved

If the reports are to be believed, then this would mark the third big film starring Ranveer that has been shelved in recent years. He was previously reported to star in 'Baiju Bawra' and 'Rakshasa', however, there has been no update on the same.

Deepika's film exit

This comes at a time when Deepika has been in the news for her exits from her highly anticipated films. The actress was set to feature in two highly-awaited films - director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Spirit' and Director Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898AD' sequel. However, after announcing her exit from these movies, Deepika followed it up with announcements of two new films - Atlee's untitled science-fiction action film, tentatively titled 'AA22xA6' and Shah Rukh Khan's action movie 'King'.

Upcoming films

Ranveer, on the other hand, is awaiting the release of Aditya Dhar’s 'Durandhar' and also has Farhan Akhtar’s 'Don 3' still in the works.
