Harman Baweja is all praise for the people of Rajasthan (TOI photo)Shooting at SMS: We were supposed to shoot for the movie Victory at the SMS stadium, as they call it in Jaipur. I did not know the full form of SMS and all I got was a message on my phone saying that shooting at so-and-so time at the SMS Stadium. I thought something is wrong with my phone or the person forgot to write the name.
But then I got to know that the full form is Sawai Maan Singh Stadium!
We have finished our first round of shooting there, but we will be returning in July for the second phase of the shooting. We have shot in Jaisalmer as well. It was a good time to shoot for us because the nights used to be pleasant, except for the huge number of moths there. And because of the dew at night, a lot of people fell sick.
Shop till you drop: I went shopping on the last day I spent in Jaipur, on my way to the airport. I got mojaries for myself. In fact, I bought some eight pairs of mojaries for the same amount of money in which I would have bought just one branded pair in Mumbai. And there was such interesting stuff to eat that I also bought that from there. And there I was, taking the flight with eatables in one hand and mojaries in the other!
Bowled over: Victory is a film with cricket as the theme. It was great shooting with the professional cricketers. I already knew the Aussie players because I had shot with them in Sydney. The first night we were still sitting in two separate dressing rooms, but by the second night, we all were all a part of one big gang. I specially developed a great rapport with RP Singh, Praveen Kumar, Dinesh Karthik and Yousuf Pathan.
Trained cricketer: I had spent four months getting cricket-savvy and getting trained in the game. And after that, a lot of cricketers kept thinking during the shooting that even I am a professional cricketer. I am glad it paid off. Thats because I had to face the bowling of some fantastic bowlers like Brett Lee. Thank God, I was geared up for that.
Brett, the singer: Brett used to always have his guitar along with him. When the days work used to get over, we used to sit together and sing and have a lot of fun. He is fantastic on the guitar. And it used to be fun when he tried his hand at speaking Hindi. He used to slog it out trying to get the Hindi words right and then look at us for approval. We used to burst out laughing and tell him, Dude you sure are funny!
I love Rajasthan: The people of Rajasthan are so warm. They are very sweet and respectful. They will make sure that you are well taken care of. I had gone to Rajasthan a week in advance before shooting. I stayed in Falaudi for about two days. It was amazing to see that everyone knew just about everyone in the village, unlike the Mumbai scene, where it is hard to even know your own neighbour. They just kept asking us to have more food. Very sweet really!
My focus: My entire focus right now is on my debut film, Love Story 2050. Yes, I know that there are a lot of people making their debut like me this year. It is great for the industry and for me as well. It is important to have competition to keep you on your toes. I wish all of them the very best.
