Happy birthday, Nitara: Meet Akshay Kumar’s daughter through the eyes of her mother Twinkle Khanna

Star couple Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar are hands-on parents to their darling daughter Nitara, who turned a year older today. While they like to keep Nitara away from the spotlight, the two have now started opening up about their parenthood on social media, with several anecdotes from their interactions with their daughter. Talking about their special bond, Twinkle had once shared an adorable picture where she was seen planting a sweet kiss on Nitara’s head. She captioned it as, “You have pieces of me in you and science merely confirms what I already knew, there are bits of you inside me too.” Explaining what she meant, the actor-turned-author wrote, “During pregnancy, some of the fetus's cells leave the womb, traveling through the placenta and into the mother's bloodstream, where they end up in various parts of her body. This phenomenon, later coined as "fetal microchimerism," was first discovered in the late 19th century by a German scientist named Georg Schmorl. When the heart is injured, fetal cells seem to flock to the site of injury and turn into several different types of specialized heart cells”.

On Father’s Day, Twinkle shared a heart-warming throwback picture of Akki and Nitara. Penning down thoughts about their beautiful father-daughter relation, she captioned it, “He is her wall. She learns to stand holding onto him. Shielded, she removes bricks at eye-level and peeks at the world. He waits for the day when she will clamber over the top and becomes a wall for her own.”

There are a lot of speculations over what will Nitara choose to become and if she will follow in the footsteps of her star parents. Sharing a teaser about where lie Nitara’s interests, Mrs Funnybones shared a picture of herself after receiving a makeover by Nitara. It read, “Another day and another makeover! I am clearly a glutton for punishment. And the little one has no future as a make-up artist! #FunnyMakeovers.”

Nitara shares a love for books with her mother. Twinkle once shared a glimpse of their reading sessions and revealed, “You have a quota-25 pages a day and so do I.’ She asks, ‘But who gives you the quota mama?’ ‘That’s the tricky part of being an adult. You have to give yourself these tasks and make sure you stick by them.’ With brushed teeth and uncombed hair, we begin our mornings in the best way possible. It may not be 25 pages everyday, sometimes it’s merely 5, but it all adds up eventually”.

Twinkle takes fitness seriously. Much like her, Nitara, too, likes to meditate with her mommy dearest. Sharing one such picture from their yoga session in the backyard of their lavish house, Twinkle wrote, “I have always said that a round of pranayama a day keeps my inner werewolf at bay. It is the sankalpas I make during my practice that determine the course of my life. #yogadayeveryday #throwback.”
