​Happy Birthday Karan Johar: 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' to 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', THESE candid BTS clicks of the filmmaker prove he is the epitome of finesse

Ace filmmaker Karan Johar is celebrating his 48th birthday today. He is undoubtedly one of the finest directors in Bollywood. KJo had started off his career back in 1995 by assisting Aditya Chopra in 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge'.Later he started running his own production house founded by his father Yash Johar and today he has more than 45 films to his credit. Amongst which Karan has directed some of the blockbusters like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'My Name Is Khan', 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna', 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' and others. As the filmmaker is turning a year older today, here's looking back at some of his candid behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets of his films.

​Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Karan Johar rose to fame for his directorial debut film ' Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' released in 1998. In 2018, when the film had clocked 20 years the filmmaker took to his Insta handle to share an unseen picture from the sets of the film with Shah Rukh Khan. In the photo, KJo can be seen giving instructions to SRK before a scene. KKHH also featured Rani Mukerji and Kajol.

​Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

KJo had written an open letter to a leading portal where he had mentioned why he produced 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'. He said that he cannot communicate with people who make their parents suffer. He made K3G, with ‘It’s all about loving your parents’, as the tagline. That is his reality. His parents are his world and his life is about them. In the above pics, the director was captured in the lenses by while discussing scenes with his lead stars Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.

​Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna

Karan made a film in 2006 depicting the modern thought 'extramarital affair' which was appreciated by a few and criticised by many but it was an overall learning experience for the filmmaker. In this BTS pic, the director is seen completely engrossed while narrating a scene to SRK and Rani. The film also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Kirron Kher, Priety Zinta and Abishek Bachchan in key roles.

​My Name Is Khan

Karan has always been known for his over the top fashion choices. Whether it a film set on an event he is always seen pulling off funky pieces of stuff. This candid picture featuring SRK, Kajol and Karan was clicked on the sets of 'My Name Is Khan' wherein Kajol and Shah Rukh were going through their lines while Karan was standing as if he was posing for a photoshoot.

​Student Of The Year

Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan marked their big Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's directorial 'Student Of The Year'. His dream school was nothing less than a fantasy land. Varun and Sidharth had also worked as assistant directors on the sets of 'My Name Is Khan'. Here Karan is seen sharing a burst of hearty laughter with the SOTY boys.

​Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Karan is seen addressing a scene to the lead actors Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor in this behind-the-scenes picture from the sets of 2015 release 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'. The film was first shot in London where the initial parts were filmed with Ranbir and Anushka. Later they shifted to Paris for a song’s shoot and then Aishwarya Rai Bachchan joined the crew for the Vienna schedule.
