Hanuman Jayanti Special – When Indian Cinema Paid Tribute to Lord Hanuman

The evolution of Indian cinema has seen a steady rise in the portrayal of mythological epics and cultural narratives. One of the most revered figures in Indian mythology is Lord Hanuman, the devoted vanara god from the epic Ramayana. Over the decades, numerous actors have brought this iconic character to life on screen, each adding their touch to the role—ranging from early black-and-white films to contemporary CGI spectacles and even superhero reinterpretations.

As we celebrate Hanuman Jayanti, here’s a look at some memorable on-screen depictions of Lord Hanuman that have left a lasting impact.

His dedication to the role and respectful portrayal deeply resonated with viewers, ensuring his place in the cultural memory of generations.
