‘Haiwaan’: Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan kick off Priyadarshan’s film - ‘Let’s Get Haiwaniyat Rolling’

Renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan is back with his latest project, ‘Haiwaan’, an intense thriller starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. The film has officially begun shooting in Kochi, with additional schedules planned in Ooty and Mumbai. This marks the much-anticipated comeback of Akshay and Saif together after more than 17 years since ‘Tashan’. Akshay excitedly shared the news on social media, posting a video showcasing his fun moments on set with Saif Ali Khan as they kick off filming ‘Haiwaan’.

Akshay announces the start of filming on Instagram
On Saturday, Akshay took to Instagram to announce that the filming of ‘Haiwaan’ has officially started. In his video, he holds the clapperboard while director Priyadarshan and co-star Saif Ali Khan share some light-hearted moments with him. Spotting Akshay’s T-shirt that says ‘Saint’, Saif jokingly tells him, “You should wear ‘Devil’ instead.” Akshay responds by pointing at Saif and saying to Priyadarshan, “This Devil you don’t know about. But I know this Devil very well.” He also mentions that it has been more than 17 years since their last collaboration in ‘Tashan’.




Sharing the video, he wrote, “Hum sab hi hain thode se shaitaan…Koi upar se Saint, koi andar se Haiwaan :)) Starting the shoot for #Haiwaan today with my absolute favourite captain of the ship, @priyadarshan.official Sir. Akshay to play the antagonist; film details
Akshay is said to be playing the antagonist in ‘Haiwaan’. When questioned about the movie’s title, he humorously told Hindustan Times that it was something written in his destiny. He mentioned that first he did a film called ‘Insaan’, then ‘Jaanwar’, and now he is doing ‘Haiwaan’, completing a trilogy. However, he laughed it off and added that it was not something planned this way. Reports suggest that ‘Haiwaan’ is a Hindi adaptation of the 2016 Malayalam hit ‘Oppam’, which starred Mohanlal. Director Priyadarshan revealed the project in July by posting a picture of Saif and Akshay at the India versus England Test match held at London’s Lord’s Cricket Stadium.

Akshay and Saif’s reunion after 17 years
Meanwhile, Akshay and Saif are reuniting on screen after 17 years, their last collaboration being the 2008 movie ‘Tashan’. Over the years, the duo has starred together in several popular films, including ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ (1994), ‘Yeh Dillagi’ (1994), ‘Tu Chor Main Sipahi’ (1996), and ‘Keemat’ (1998), which remain fan favorites.
