Gulshan Grover is miffed with false reports that he has undergone five surgeries and claims it could affect his international career. Gulshan Grover is mighty miffed with false reports on some movie database websites. While the misreporting is not about any of his film per se, it is about his personal life. These sites have unverified trivia relating to Gulshan Grover claiming that the actor has undergone multiple surgeries including an open heart surgery, stomach surgery, brain surgery and a knee surgery.
“The fact of the matter is that I have not undergone a single surgery as claimed by these websites”, defends Gulshan Grover. “By the grace of God, I am physically fit thanks to my healthy lifestyle. I have been visiting the doctor only once a year and that too when affected by something like common cold. In fact my doctor and dentist friends keep inviting me over cup of coffee since I hardly have the need to visit their clinics”. “Imagine, if I would have ever undergone any surgery, you think the Indian media wouldn’t have come to know about it”, questions Grover. “The news would have been splashed across papers and perhaps even magnified by five times. This will not affect my career in Hindi films where industry people know about my wellbeing. But it certainly can affect my international standing”.
But how can such misreporting of facts affect his international film career? Gulshan Grover explains, “Financers and filmmakers from West, who might not be familiar with actors like me, would simply search for material about us on the internet and browse through the information before meeting us. And if someone reads that I have undergone five surgeries, he would certainly not want to take risk and cast me in his film when he can find a more physically fit actor”.
“The fact that this story originated on the internet is a bigger reason to believe that it was to affect my international career”, claims Grover. “I believe these stories came out in around July-August and that was the time when I was signed for the Hollywood film, The Driver where I play husband to Salma Hayek. Perhaps there is someone who hates me or doesn’t want me to work in Hollywood films.” The actor who has already worked in several international films claims The Driver is the biggest film of his career. “I have never got to play the hero’s role in Bollywood but I am getting that opportunity in Hollywood now. Certainly I am excited. To top it Salma Hayek is my wife in the film”, he smiles. The Driver is being directed by Bill Duke and will go on floors by May end. Check out Gulshan Grover’s home page
