Gulshan Devaiah reveals why he’s dating his ex-wife Kallirroi Tziafeta after divorce: ‘Not taking it for granted’
Gulshan Devaiah recently addressed his renewed relationship with his former wife, actor Kallirroi Tziafeta. He also reacted to Aamir Khan and Anurag Kashyap, who have discussed how their work consumes their personal lives.
Gulshan told the Indian Express that he does not want to wait that long. Kallirroi and Gulshan, who parted ways in 2020 after eight years of marriage, have rekindled their bond and are now exploring a fresh chapter together. Gulshan's decision to revisit this relationship comes after navigating a challenging emotional period, which has given him a clearer perspective on his life and career.
Having married in 2012—just a year after his breakthrough role in ‘Shaitan’—Gulshan has experienced varied success with his seven film releases before the pandemic.
Gulshan reflects on the difficulties of managing his career's ups and downs while being married, admitting that he was initially unprepared and had to learn extensively about the industry. He explains that negative responses to films he was involved in emotionally impacted him, and he needed to find strategies to shield himself from these effects. Despite receiving praise for his performances, the varied commercial success of his films took an emotional toll.
The ‘8AM Metro’ actor notes that his intense focus on the volatile nature of the film industry led to personal complications, including challenges in his marriage. The pressure of dealing with the potential fallout from unsuccessful films and the fear of diminishing work opportunities took a significant toll on him. He admits that this focus left him with little time for other aspects of his life and that being an actor often requires a level of self-centeredness, which he acknowledges as part of the job.
Gulshan further explained that his dedication to his acting career leaves him with little time for friends or family. Unlike stable jobs, acting involves uncertainty about future work, which requires constant mental calculations and creates instability. This unpredictability consumes significant energy and time, contributing to the challenges of balancing his personal and professional life.
He acknowledges that his renewed relationship with his ex-wife Kallirroi Tziafeta brings a positive change to his life. He feels like a new person and is cautious not to take their reunion for granted. While he senses a better balance in his career, he recognizes that stability is still a work in progress. “I don’t want to take anything for granted. We are back together, but it doesn’t mean ‘Oh, all is well,’” he emphasized.
The actor added that instability remains a constant in the film industry, accepting it as an inherent aspect of the business. He understands that continuous growth is essential to avoid becoming irrelevant, given the ever-changing landscape and the emergence of new talent. Reflecting on his own experiences, he notes how the excitement around him in 2011 faded as new actors like Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal gained prominence.
