Bollywood filmmakers have long given up looking for formulas to make their films successful. However, trios have always proved to be a good combination on the silver screen. Be it Raju, Rancho, and Farhan's dosti in '3 Idiots' or Akash, Sid, and Sameer in 'Dil Chahta Hai', or Abhinav, Vedika, and Tapasya in 'Pati Patni Aur Woh', trios have a way of winning hearts and the box office. Call it mere coincidence or an attempt to cash in on the success of trios, a lot of upcoming films are tapping into the power of three. Take a look:
Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani in 'Govinda Naam Mera'
Recently, Karan Johar took to his social media handle to announce his next film 'Govinda Naam Mera' starring- Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, and Kiara Advani. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, it is a light-hearted family entertainer. Vicky is playing the role of the film's protagonist Govinda Waghmare. Bhumi will be seen as Mrs Waghmare, the wife of Vicky's character, and Kiara will play the part of 'naughty girlfriend' in the film.

Sara Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Dhanush in 'Atrangi Re'
Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, and Dhanush will share screen space in their upcoming film, 'Atrangi Re'. The movie, which is being directed by Aanand L Rai and written by Himanshu Sharma, is reportedly a cross-cultural love story. Reports further suggested that Sara plays a girl from Bihar, and will be romancing Dhanush and Akshay in two timelines.

Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi in Shakun Batra's next
A few days ago, Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, and Siddhant Chaturvedi wrapped up Shakun Batra's untitled project. Touted to be a thriller, the details about the project are still under wraps. This film was scheduled to release in February this year, but got delayed due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The stars often posted BTS pictures and videos from the sets, and it seems like the actors had a lot of fun while making the film.

Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor in 'Shamshera'
Helmed by Karan Malhotra, period drama 'Shamshera' will star Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor alongside each other. The makers have kept the details of the project under wraps. On Ranbir's 39th birthday, the makers released a teaser for his look in the film. This will be his first film after the 2018 release 'Sanju'.

Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol in 'Apne 2'
The Deols had announced their next film, 'Apne 2', on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. This movie will bring together three generations of the family- Dharmendra, his sons Sunny and Bobby, and grandson Karan. Helmed by Anil Sharma, the film was expected to go on floors in March 2021 and release around Diwali next year. But due to the second coronavirus wave in India, the makers had to postpone the shoot.
