Sarath Kumar needs a hit badly. He also wants to prove that he can do city-based action subjects, as his critics have dismissed him off as a rural Nattamai hero!
Now he is pinning all hopes on his new film 1977. ���Who said I can do only village-based films? I can do city-based roles with conviction and style. In this film, directed by ad man Dinesh Kumar, I���m doing a dual role as father and son.

The film is made like a James Bond type action movie, with lots of style,��� says the actor whose fans call him the ���supreme star.��� Interesingly, 60 percent of this film was shot in Malaysia.
The stills from 1977 look very glamorous. Sarath is paired with three heroines ��� Namitha, Farzana and Sandhya Shetty ��� in the movie. The star has tattooed himself all over his body to get that yuppie look. RSK pictures, Sarath���s own production house is making the movie. This film is also said to be his costliest venture.
