Goa has been lucky for me: Sheena Chohan

Goa has proved to be a lucky destination for Sheena Chohan. It was at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) that the actress first met the directors of the film Sant Tukaram and was soon cast as Avali Jija Bai.

In a chat with us, she shares, “I met the directors of my Bollywood debut film in Goa. It all started here three years ago when director Aditya Om cast me in the role of Avali Jija Bai."

For her, Goa is also synonymous with leisure and learning. “I love visiting Goa for the food, the fun and, of course, the films I get to watch during IFFI,” she says. Sheena, who has acted in The Fame Game, Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha and the Malayalam film Train, says theatre has played a crucial role in shaping her as an actor.

“Being in theatre for over five years taught me discipline and hard work. The first thing I do is understand and research every character thoroughly,” she explains.

‘Spirituality helps me deal with industry pressure’

Acknowledging the pressures of the industry, Sheena says staying grounded is essential. “There’s a lot of stress and negativity, and constant pressure to perform, so you need to find your anchor. For me, that anchor is spirituality. I’m not a religious person, but I am very spiritual.
