'Ghilli' to 'Leo': Revisiting Trisha Krishnan and Vijay Thalapathy's best on-screen moments

The chemistry between Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan is the stuff of Kollywood legend. As of May 4, 2026, the duo is making headlines not just for their cinematic legacy, but for a "double celebration" marking Trisha’s birthday and Vijay’s historic lead in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections. Whether you're a long-time fan or a newcomer drawn in by the political buzz, here are the essential hits that define their iconic pairing. From ‘Ghilli’ to ‘Leo’, their filmography together covers a mix of action, romance, and drama.

‘Leo’

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, ‘Leo’ stands among Thalapathy Vijay’s most notable films. The action thriller released in theatres on October 19, 2023, and was well received by both critics and audiences. It eventually emerged as the third highest-grossing Tamil film ever. The plot centres on Parthiban (Vijay), a café owner and animal rescuer based in Himachal Pradesh, whose life spirals after he kills intruders in an act of self-defence. Trisha essays the role of Sathya, portraying a caring and supportive wife and mother. The film is available to stream on OTT, and its music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

‘Ghilli’

‘Ghilli’, a sports drama, is the Tamil remake of Mahesh Babu’s Telugu hit ‘Okkadu’. The film first released in theatres in 2004 and returned to the big screen in 2024, drawing a massive response, especially from Thalapathy Vijay’s fans. It tells the story of Velu (Vijay), a Kabaddi player who steps in to protect Dhanalakshmi (Trisha) from the dangerous local goon Muthupandi (Prakash Raj). The film is currently streaming on OTT.

‘The Greatest of All Time’

‘The Greatest of All Time’ (GOAT), a science fiction film, hit theatres on September 5, 2024, and was well received by audiences and critics alike. It emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. The film follows Gandhi (Vijay), a Special Anti-Terrorism Squad officer, who sets out on a mission with his teammates Ajay, Kalyan, and Sunil to hunt down their former chief accused of stealing uranium and betraying the nation. Although the team successfully completes the operation and Gandhi opts for retirement, his past missions return to trouble him. Trisha Krishnan appears in a cameo as a dancer in the film.

‘Aathi’

The action film ‘Aathi’ features Vijay in the role of Aathikesavan, alongside Trisha as Anjali Krishnankutty. It is a Tamil remake of the 2005 Telugu film Athanokkade. At the same time, Trisha plays a college student driven by her own quest for revenge after losing her parents.
