Gautami Kapoor is enjoying every bit of this phase of her career. Popularly known for her television shows, she has now taken a plunge into the digital space and is looking forward to the release of not one, but three web projects.
She says, “Unlike television shows, web shows are finite and so you dedicate only limited time to each show. You are not restricted to playing only one character for two to four years. This way you end up playing so many characters in various shows in that span of time. OTT gives you a platform to showcase your talent and push the envelope by trying something new and something out of your comfort zone. I owe my career to TV but that medium I must say gets restrictive beyond a point.”
Out of the three web shows, the first one to drop online is Gyaarah Gyaarah co-starring Kill fame Raghav Juyal, Kritika Kamra and Gehraiyaan fame Dhairya Karwa. Directed by Umesh Bist and produced by Guneet Monga and Karan Johar, Gyaarah Gyaarah drops on Zee5 on August 9.
Talking about the show and her co-stars Gautami shared, “Raghav was fantastic to work with. It doesn’t feel like work when you are working with him (laughs). Most of my scenes are with Kritika and we had a good time. The show is an experiment when it comes to the narration and how they have treated it. I hope the audience enjoy this edge of the seat thriller. It’s a tricky show to understand. So, it’s not like one of those shows you get distracted on your phone yet continue watching it. Everything is complicated and interconnected. It's engaging and you have to watch it carefully because if you miss something, you’ll not understand the next scene.”
A lot of effort went into the shooting of the show especially when the team shot at Dehradun. “My co-stars have been absolutely outstanding because we shot in some really hard conditions. Dehradun was extremely cold and they had to do a lot of action. There were sequences where they had to use artificial rain and it was four degrees! We’ve shot for long, extensive hours and really tough conditions. Hats off to Raghav Kritika and Dhairya as it was physically strenuous for them.”
