FTII alumnus, Kaushal Oza, won the Special Jury Award for his short film 'Afterglow', in the third edition of the annual SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Film Festival, which was held from May 26-31, in Colombo.

A delighted Oza informed, “The Directorate of Film Festival in India had sent Afterglow along with other films. It is a great achievement for our film, and adds one more award to our kitty.” With this award, Oza has already bagged five awards for Afterglow in the last one year. Recently, the film also won appreciation at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival in France. It also won the Best Short Fiction Film at the Third Eye Asian Film Festival in Mumbai.
The film revolves around a Parsi widow and her memories of her husband. It is based on the condolences which come pouring in after a death and are severely insincere in their approach. “I happened to write this story for myself and made some crucial decisions while I made it into a short film. I have kept only Parsi actors to keep the feel of the film. It is completely shot in a single house,” said Kaushal, who is now scripting his first feature film, a comedy based on a man travelling in India. Oza is also penning a comic book which will be released along with the film.
