From falling in love to getting married to parting ways: Relationship timeline of actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and wife Aaliya

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who celebrates his 46th birthday today, is all over the internet, unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons. His wife Aaliya has sent a legal notice to the actor asking for a divorce. She revealed that her marriage has been in trouble for the last decade and that she used the lockdown as the opportunity to end the marriage.

Nawazuddin, who recently travelled to his hometown Budhana in Uttar Pradesh with proper approval, is currently on mandatory two-week home quarantine. While we are yet to receive the actor’s side of the story yet, here we take a look at their journey so far.

From falling in love with each other to getting married to finally deciding to part ways, here’s a relationship timeline of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his wife Aaliya.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, in his memoir, had mentioned that he was in a live-in relationship with his ladylove Anjali. Although they were reportedly head-over-heels in love with each other, they constantly fought on various issues. And at times, Anjali would storm out in fury and Nawaz would seek her forgiveness and bring her back.

While their fury and fights had become common in their relationship, there came a time when Anjali left after their quarrel and did not come back for a very long time. The actor had mentioned in his book that even though he longed for her, he did not go to get her back. The prolonged period turned into a silent break-up.

Nawazuddin’s mother arranged his wedding with a girl named Sheeba who was from Haldwani, near Nainital. The actor got married to her a few months before the shooting of his film, ‘Patang’. Reportedly, everything was going quite well and the two of them lived together for two months. It was after then that problems began to arise because of her intrusive brother who interfered in their marriage.

Nawazuddin and Sheeba faced each other at court along with their families for a divorce hearing. Although he had a tinge of hope that they would patch up, Sheeba was determined to part ways. Nawaz was shocked when she accused his family of torturing her.

Nawazuddin’s first love Anjali made a comeback into his life. Although the actor was initially skeptical about their relationship, given his past experiences with her, he got back with her. Anjali too was adamant in making things better between them.

After getting back together, Nawazuddin and Anjali decided to finally get hitched. However, as Anjali was a Hindu, during their nikaah, she was asked to change her name. Although she initially chose the name Zainab, she later changed it to Aaliya.

Although nothing was officially confirmed, reports of trouble in their marriage started coming out in the media in 2017. Reports of affairs of the actor started surfacing. The actor and his wife had been summoned by cops after their names emerged during an investigation related to a Call Data Record (CDR) racket. However, during all these too, Aaliya remained loyal and supportive of her actor husband.

Now, Aaliya has filed for a divorce with the actor stating that she does not want the marriage anymore. She told Bombay Times that she has given it a lot of thought and she does not want this marriage anymore. She also said that she has gone back to her original name Anjana Kishor Pandey as she does not want to use his identity anymore. She has also requested for sole custody of her children.
