From city streets to village lanes love finds its way in these Bollywood gems

Bollywood has often shown us that love doesn’t need fancy places or perfect situations; it can bloom in the middle of busy city streets or quiet village paths. Here are some popular Bollywood movies that prove love finds its way, no matter the place.

2/7

‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’

This classic love story starts in the modern streets of London but slowly moves to the fields and traditions of Punjab. In the film Raj and Simran meet during a trip to Europe and fall in love, but Simran’s strict father has already arranged her marriage and to win her heart and her family’s approval, Raj travels to her village in India. The film beautifully shows the contrast between modern and traditional values.

3/7

'Jab We Met'

This movie starts aboard a train and takes the viewer on a journey across various cities and towns. Aditya is a brooding businessman from Mumbai, and Geet is a bubbly girl from Bhatinda, Punjab. Theirs is an action-packed journey from missing trains to falling in love at the most unexpected time. Geet takes Aditya to her village, and he witnesses a totally new world full of warmth and tradition and later, the story shifts again to snowy Himachal, where emotions run deeper. The film is about self-discovery, second chances, and how people grow through love.

4/7

'Raanjhanaa'

Based in the sacred city of Banaras, 'Raanjhanaa' is Kundan's tale, about a boy from the local community who has fallen in love with Zoya, a girl belonging to a different clan. As she matures and goes to Delhi, the narrative moves from a small city to the city's hustle-bustle capital. The movie depicts how love is one-sided, deep, and aching, but still very innocent. Kundan never gives up on her, even when she does not feel the same about him.

5/7

‘Kedarnath’

This film is set in the scenic but strict setting of Kedarnath, a pilgrimage site in Uttarakhand. Mukku, a Hindu girl, falls in love with Mansoor, a Muslim porter and their love faces many social and religious challenges. Despite their differences, they find comfort and strength in each other and also the backdrop of the 2013 Kedarnath floods adds to the intensity. Their love stands strong even when nature and society go against them. The film shows how love is not bound by religion, class, or place.

6/7

'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'

This love triangle is filled with emotions, tradition, and personal choices. Nandini falls in love with Sameer, a fun-loving NRI, in the grand settings of her traditional home in Gujarat. But her family gets her married to Vanraj, a calm and mature man and then the story moves to Italy where Vanraj takes her to reunite with her first love and in the end of the film she discovers what true love really means.

7/7

‘Band Baaja Baaraat’

This film follows Shruti and Bittoo, two young people from Delhi who start a wedding planning business and they meet in college, full of big city energy and ambition. While working together, they slowly fall in love, even though they try to keep things professional. Their business takes them to both high-class city weddings and simple village functions. The film captures the spirit of modern love which is filled with dreams, doubts, and real struggles.
