From Agneepath to 102 Not Out; here are 10 highest-grossing films of Rishi Kapoor

Bollywood faced another setback on Thursday morning when veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away after fighting a long battle with cancer. The charismatic actor, who had been entertaining the audience by weaving his acting magic on the celluloid eventually left for the heavenly abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own.

With decades of experience in front of the camera and several blockbusters under his belt, the sad demise of Rishi Kapoor has left everyone shocked. While fans and Bollywood celebs are taking to social media to express their grief, we take a look at Rishi's best artistic work that moved the box office.

Agneepath

Rishi Kapoor stepped into the shoes of Rauf Lala and left the audience stunned with his acting brilliance. The Karan Malhotra directorial which was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's famous 1990 film with the same title also starred Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. With a total collection of Rs 119.98 crore from the domestic circuit, 'Agneepath' turned out to be one of the best films of 2012.

Housefull 2

One of Bollywood's most popular and successful franchise 'Housefull' which stars the likes of Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and others with comedy saw Rishi teaming up with them for the second instalment along with his brother Randhir Kapoor. The film which earned a massive sum of Rs 111.79 crore is touted as one of the best family entertainers.

Kapooor & Sons

Ace filmmaker Shakun Batra's film 'Kapoor & Sons' which starred the likes of Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Fawad Khan in lead roles saw Rishi Kapoor play an integral role in the film. The family drama which released in 2016 managed to mint Rs 69.37 crore at the box office and was even showered with praises from all quarters for the brilliant performances by all.

Love Aaj Kal

Rishi Kapoor played an integral and interesting character in Imtiaz Ali's 'Love Aaj Kal' and managed to steal the thunder from Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone as well. The 2009 film went on to earn Rs 66.56 crore at the box office and is even considered as one of Bollywood classic cults as well. The film recently even saw its successor with the same name and Kartik and Sara Ali Khan in the lead.

Student Of The Year

Karan Johar's 'Student Of The Year' which marked the debut of Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in Bollywood was one of the biggest hits of 2012. With a total collection of Rs 62.94 crore in the domestic circuit, the film which starred Rishi Kapoor in the character of Dean Yogendra Vashishth gave the audience an entertaining delight.

Besharam

For the first time in his career, Rishi featured on the silver screen with his wife Neetu and son Ranbir in Abhinav Kashyap's 2013 comedy-drama 'Besharam'. Despite bringing the Kapoor clan together on the celluloid, the film failed to excite the audience but yet managed to collect a total of Rs 56.82 crore at the box office.

The film which starred Aamir Khan and Kajol in the lead saw Rishi essay a supporting character but he still managed to impress the audience in the small screen time as well. The film which was a commercial hit in the domestic circuit went on to make Rs 51.87 crore.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor teamed up for a movie after a long time and entertained the audience with their uncanny comedy in Umesh Shukla's '102 Not Out'. The film which was based on a Gujarati play managed to mint Rs 51.77 crore in the domestic circuit but Big B and Rishi's camaraderie as a father-son duo in the film was the highlight of the film.

Shuddh Desi Romance

Rishi Kapoor left the audience stunned with his stellar performance in director Maneesh Sharma's romantic comedy 'Shuddh Desi Romance' which featured Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor in the lead. The film received a good response from the audience as well as the critics and went on to rake in Rs 46.26 crore at the box office in 2013.

Chashme Baddoor

Rishi even teamed up with David Dhawan for the official remake of 1981 film 'Chashme Buddoor' in 2013. The film which was remade with Taapsee Pannu, Ali Zafar, Divyenndu and Siddharth in the lead managed to earn Rs 42.16 crore at the box office. Despite receiving mixed reviews from the critics, the film did manage to sail across the box office with decent numbers.
