Freida Pinto reveals why she will never do a masala film

It’s been almost 10 years since ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ catapulted Freida Pinto to international fame. The success of the Danny Boyle movie changed Freida’s destiny overnight and she went on to feature in many international films, including 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes', 'Trishna' and 'Desert Dancer'.

While she is busy with her projects abroad, the stunning actress has been missing in action in India, where her last film, after a long gap, was ‘Love Sonia’. In an interview with a daily, Freida said that she doesn’t want to do projects for the sake of it. Freida also told the publication that she would never do a “masala song and dance kind of a film”, as they were not in tune with her sensibility. She said that she is not confident about such projects and so, is not apologetic about it.

‘Love Sonia’ revolved around an Indian village girl (Mrunal), who gets entrapped in the global sex trade while trying to save her sister. It also featured Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Rajkummar Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Adil Hussain, Anupam Kher, Mark Duplass and Riya Sisodiya.

Freida also said that she doesn’t feel like an outsider in Bollywood anymore. However, the actress noted that there’s nothing wrong in being an outsider, as it gives one a unique, unbiased perspective.
