Ask the director to spill the beans on his forthcoming venture and he says, I always like reading stories of great authors and get influenced by them.
In todays time, very few people read books. So, my telefilm is a great way to get the readers interested in books. Though the story centres around a young boy, theres a message to convey. It is a story of self realisation and revelation.

We shot for four days at different outdoor locations, including the Baruipur Rajbari. Subhashishs role as Babuls father is a tough one with a lot of shades. And like always, Subhashish has done a splendid job. The telefilm has been scripted by Padmanabha Dasgupta and the music is scored by Debjit.Role call: The cast of Rajar Tupi includes Subhashish Mukherjee, Baisakhi Marjit, Pubarun Basu, Imli Pramanik, Sudipa Basu, Chandrashekhar Seal and Arindam Chakraborty. In the wings: The story revolves around a small boy, Babul, who dreams of owning a hat. He associates the hat with a king, who has the authority to rule over others. He feels that if he somehow gets the hat, then he would be able to win the battle over social evils and also cure his mother. He tells his father to buy him one, but his father (Satish), who is burdened with other commitments, cant keep his promise and suffers from guilt pangs. The climax reveals whats in store for the family.
