Following Aamir Khan, Harshvardhan Rane pledges 'fairness' to producers, will pay for his entourage
Following Aamir Khan's call for fairness in his recent viral interview, Harshvardhan Rane has pledged to cover his own entourage expenses. He does not want to make film producers cover these costs. For the unversed, Aamir Khan had recently spoken out against actors demanding their producers pay for personal staff like drivers, cooks and trainers during shoots, which he believes is unfair.
Aamir Khan’s stance on producer expenses
In a podcast with Komal Nahta, Aamir expressed that producers should only cover expenses directly related to the film. He criticized actors who expect producers to pay for personal staff like cooks and drivers, saying these costs should be the actors’ responsibility, not the production’s.
Harshvardhan Rane supports Aamir Khan’s views publicly
Supporting Aamir’s views, Harshvardhan took to Instagram saying, "Khuddari hai sir, I hereby pledge to not let my producer pay for my entourage…inspired by stalwarts of Hindi and South industry who have been pointing out at high entourage costs. I will stand for fair producers."
Aamir Khan’s concerns over actor;s demands
Khan expressed concern over actors making producers bear their personal expenses and said, "The dominance of stars is good to a certain extent, and it should be so. Even people love to watch stars. But I hear that stars of today also don’t care to pay their drivers. They ask their producers to pay them. Not just that, but the producer is also paying for the actor’s spot boy. They don’t stop here. They make the producer pay for their trainers, cooks. I have heard that now they keep live-kitchen on set and expect the producer to pay for it. They even demand multiple vanity vans for kitchens and gyms."
What should producers pay for?
"I believe producers should only spend on what is genuinely required for the film. This includes makeup, hair, costume. But paying for my personal driver or help, how are they contributing to the film? They are working for me. It is my responsibility to pay them, especially when I am earning well," he added.
Aamir condemns unfair actor practices
The actor concluded, "These stars are earning in crores and yet not capable of paying for their needs? Itni khuddari nahi hai? (Don't they have this much self-respect?) I find this extremely strange. It is very sad and harmful for the industry. I am saying it strongly that it’s a shame that even today there are actors who are being very unfair to their producers and their films".
Harshvardhan's upcoming work
On the work front, Harshvardhan has some exciting movies coming up. His next film, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’, directed by Milap Zaveri and starring Sonam Bajwa, will now release on October 31 instead of October 2 to avoid clashing with ‘Kantara Chapter 1’. He is also working on ‘Silaa’, directed by Omung Kumar and starring Sadia Khateeb and Karan Veer Mehra, but the release date is not yet confirmed. Rane will also star in ‘Kun Faya Kun’, adding more variety to his film choices.
