Poonam Pandey made her way into Bollywood with 2013 release ‘Nasha’ and has been ruling hearts with her social media presence. However beyond the glamour dished out on Instagram, Poonam seems to be controversy’s favourite child. She often hits headlines for the wrong reasons and here’s taking a look at FIVE times when Poonam Pandey was in the news.

Poonam Pandey was booked for violating lockdown rules, the actress was reportedly roaming in her car at Marine Drive amidst the Covid-19 induced lockdown. "A case has been registered against Pandey and Sam Ahmad Bombay (46) under sections 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of a disease dangerous to life) and 188 (Disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under provisions of the National Disaster Act," senior police inspector Mrityunjay Hiremath told PTI. In an Instagram post, Poonam had later clarified that she was not arrested but was watching movies at home.

Poonam Pandey had filed a criminal case in the Bombay High Court against Raj Kundra and his associates for using her app despite their agreement being terminated in April 2019. Earlier this year she had told BT, “I collaborated with the company for an app named after me in March 2019. We had agreed upon a certain percentage of the revenue generated by the app to be given to me. However, I realised certain discrepancies in revenue sharing and hence, decided to terminate the contract. I also informed them about the same via an email. All hell has broken loose since. They continue to post my pictures and videos on the app. To my horror, they also leaked my personal mobile number along with messages like ‘Call me now as I am free to talk’ and ‘Call me now. Let us talk and I will strip for you’ on the app. After that, I started receiving calls from all over, not in dozens but thousands, at odd hours, asking me for explicit services. People started sending me pornographic images and videos. I even left the country for three months hoping that the situation will become normal on its own.” On his part, Raj Kundra had clarified that he was not aware of the petition as he had exited the venture in December 2019.

Poonam Pandey hit headlines when she promised to strip if the Indian cricket team would win the 2011 World Cup. Her statement had raised eyebrows and got her in the spotlight. While Poonam Pandey gained a lot of publicity for her act, she was reportedly not granted permission for her promise by the BCCI. A year later in 2012, Poonam had allegedly promised to strip if Shah Rukh Khan owned KKR won the IPL 5 and had later shared a picture on social media.

Poonam Pandey had become an internet sensation after her 2011 World Cup stint and she went on to hit headlines for a rather controversial video a few years back. Poonam posted a video wherein she was apparently stripping in the bathroom and the clip was titled 'Bathroom Secrets'. Poonam’s video was deemed inappropriate and blocked on YouTube.

Back in 2011, Poonam Pandey was miffed morphed pictures of her had emerged on the internet. A morphed image of a Pakistani cricketer bowing before the portrait of Sachin Tendulkar and Poonam Pandey hit cyberspace and had brought her back in the limelight. “TweetHrts & all my Fans round d World i do appreciate ur Love towards me but such edited pix really hurt me as for me Cricket is a RELIGION,” Poonam had shared.
