Filmmakers come together to support French cinema

Filmmaker Jagdish Rajpurohit has brought My French Film Festival to India this year. The festival, which runs till February 16, will showcase French feature and short films by young filmmakers on www.halfticket.tv, absolutely free. Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ketan Mehta and Swanand Kirkire serve as the Indian jury for the fest.

Rajpurohit, who has dabbled in theatre, television and films, realized that the clutter on the internet needed curation wherein someone could select valuable content and present it to the audience.That’s how he started Halfticket TV, the video on demand platform. The website received appreciation from Indian audience as well as film fraternity. About the festival, Rajpurohit said, “The new-age cinema lovers in India are craving better films from around the globe. With this festival, we are bringing fresh content of French cinema that was not available to them so far.” French director Michel Gondry, who is the President of the jury, said, “These are films we would never get to watch if it was not for the internet. That’s also the reason why we have been able to take this festival and all its talent worldwide.”
