In the past, the filmmaker had shot a film set in Kashmir but never got released. Now, the rumour mill suggests that the revocation of Article 370 has turned out to be a boon for the filmmaker and a popular film studio. The makers have found a release date of November 8 for the said film. The film titled 'Shikara', which was earlier called as 'Love Letters from Kashmir' marks Chopra’s return to his home state after Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta's '

A source quoted to Deccan Chronicle, “Vinod Chopra has also collaborated with agencies in Kashmir to promote local talent from the terror-torn state and work with them. The film had a working title earlier called Love Letters from Kashmir but has been titled as 'Shikara' which means a houseboat." During an interview earlier, Vidhu had said that the film is about what happened in Kashmir from 1985 onwards till 2015. The film features fresh faces like Sadia, Zameer Ashai from Kashmir, and RJ Nasar Khan from Bhopal.

Meanwhile, Chopra's last directorial 'Eklavya: The Royal Guard' released in 2007, starring Sanjay Dutt with Saif Ali Khan and Amitabh Bachchan had failed to impress the audiences. However, as a producer, he enjoyed success with 'Munna Bhai' series, 'Three 'Sanju' among others.
