Filmmaker Mehul Kumar who was arrested on November 15 in a case of misappropriating fund is currently admitted in Cooper Hospital after being reported to have suffering from high blood pressure. The filmmaker has been denied the anticipatory bail by sessions court since the amount due on him is large. The filmmaker was dragged to court by Jayantilal Gada of production house Popular Entertainment Networks Ltd.
(PEN Ltd). Gada had lent Rs.6 crore to Kumar to make two films in year 2000. The latter used half of the funds to build a mall in Jamnagar, Gujarat while the other half was invested in making the movie
Kitne Door Kitne Paas.
Anjana K Bakshi, advocate from Bombay high court and the lawyer arguing the case for PEN Ltd, shares, "Mehul Kumar has been denied the bail by sessions court on 22 November since the amount due on him is large. He is yet to refund Rs 6 crore 40 lakhs to PEN Ltd. He has applied for the bail on the day of his arrest and he manages to stay in Cooper Hospital since then, on ground of high blood pressure."
