MUMBAI: Veteran filmmaker and former Censor Board chairman Hrishikesh Mukherjee is in a critical condition after being admitted to the Lilavati Hospital for chronic renal failure.
"He was admitted on Saturday after he came in for pneumonia and spesis.

The case is one of chronic renal failure and he is in the ICU," Vaishali Rajpara, the hospital's administrative officer, said.
"He is responding to treatment and his blood pressure and heart rate are normal, but we cannot say anything because of his advanced age," she said.
Mukherjee, 84, had been coming to the hospital regularly for dialysis, she said adding "his condition is critical but stable".
The director of several blockbuster Hindi movies was been awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke award and a Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to cinema.
Some of his memorable films are Anand, Abhimaan, ChupkeChupke and Khubsoorat.
He started his career with Musafir in 1957 and his latest work was Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate starring Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.
