With the Times of India as its key partner, Mehnaaz Nadiadwala Productions has embarked on a mission to draw global attention towards the issue of female foeticide with its new film. Based on the book, 'It’s A Girl: Dialogues with A Princess', this film sheds light on the various atrocities against women, with emphasis on female foeticide. The film is presented by AG Nadiadwala (Mehnaaz’s father) and Arafat Khan is the executive producer.

Once 'It’s A Girl' completes the rounds of international festivals, the project will be back on Indian soil to make a mark on digital platforms.
The theme song of the film captures a mother’s plea to her unborn child. The mother assures the child that she will protect her and stand by her. This beautiful composition is sung by Rama Duke, who has also contributed to the lyrics and the tune. The song is composed, mastered and mixed by Grammy Award-winning musicians.
Mehnaaz, who has conceptualised the film and also plays an important role in it, says, “A female genocide begins with the killing of one girl child – not because of what she has done – but because of who she is. This mass murdering of the girl child is akin to butchering — millions of girls are killed around the globe. When crimes pile up they get invisible, when sufferings become unendurable the screams are inaudible. With gender ratios dropping to alarming levels, this practise should be curbed this very moment.”
The film is written and directed by Simmer Bhatia and it features prominent names like Gurpreet Kaur Chadda, Anisaa Butt, Rahul Choudhry and Meena Kumari Patel.
