'Fighter' director Siddharth Anand says he is ‘fiercely patriotic' and reveals the Pulwama incident 'angered' him
Filmmaker Siddharth Anand, who is currently enjoying the success of his recently released 'Fighter', opened up about his film and revealed that he is 'fiercely patriotic' and the Pulwama attack of 2019 really 'angered' him.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Siddharth admitted that he is fiercely patriotic—not really nationalistic, maybe, but fiercely patriotic. The filmmaker recalled that he grew up watching films like 'Haqeeqat', which was a war drama based on the India-China war of 1962, and even cried when he heard the songs of Border. "According to him, he was a soldier in my past life.
Siddharth also revealed that the dialogues of Patty are actually his. He added that those lines are actually his. The filmmaker mentioned that he wants to say these things because he actually feels them in his own way.
Siddharth, who comes from the family of filmmakers Mukul Anand and Tinnu Anand, known for making films like 'Agneepath' and Hum, shared that he grew up on Hindi films with dialogue-baazi, and he really enjoys that.
Siddharth further added that the lines ring true to Hrithik’s character in the film, as he is doing it for the love of his country. It’s not like their paycheque is so huge that they are doing it for their lifestyle.
'Fighter' narrates the tales of Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania, portrayed by Hrithik Roshan; Squadron Leader Minal Rathore, played by Deepika Padukone; and Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh, essayed by Anil Kapoor.
Siddharth Anand's 'Fighter' has successfully crossed the Rs 250 crore milestone at the global box office in one week. The Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer was released on January 25.
