The fast-paced trailer of Saif Ali Khan starrer '

Kaalakaandi

' drew major attention for the actor's quirky look, as well as the bold dialogues.

Reports claimed that the censor board earlier compared it to Akshat Verma's 2011 film '

Delhi Belly

' for its excessive use of verbal profanity and hence the film was stuck on a cliffhanger as the board was willing to pass it only after 72 cuts. Stating that the "essence of the film would've been lost,"

Saif

alleged that the team then went to Film Certification and Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) to intervene.

According to reports, the film has now been cleared with one cut and has been given a U/A certification.

The film will hit theatre screens on January 12, 2018.
