It is nearly after over three decades that the duo come together. Yes, veteran actors Farooq Sheikh and Supriya Pathak will be seen sharing screen space once again Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai. The two were last seen in Bazaar (1982). A source said, “When you think of Farooq Sheikh and Supriya Pathak a sweet romantic image of the 80s conjures up. But unlike their earlier roles where they were paired romantically, in Shanghai, the characters they are essay are of very different nature.
While Supriya Pathak, plays a politician, Farookh shaikh is shown as a senior IAS officer reporting to her.”
The source added, “It was a challenge for Dibakar Banerjee to put them in a dark twisted roles. And that is what makes it interesting.”When contacted, Farooq Sheikh said, “I am glad to be sharing screen space with Supriya again. It was a pleasure working with her after so long. I have always been fond of her and have been friends.”
The seasoned actor added, “When you know your co actor on a personal level then the intereactions while shooting become easy. In the film, she plays my boss and that is what makes the role interesting. Our roles are very different from our roles in earlier films. As an actor she has become even better now as she understands technicalities of camera and lights. Also I wanted to work with Dibakar Banerjee as I had liked his earlier films.”
