In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Farida Jalal discussed how Karan Johar's approach to casting has changed over the years. She mentioned that in the past, Johar's films always had a role for her, a practice that seems to have ceased recently. She fondly recalled his father, Yash Johar, as one of her favorite producers, who prioritized writing her character even before the protagonist's role. Additionally, Kartik Aaryan has recently addressed rumors regarding his fallout with Karan Johar over his departure from 'Dostana 2.'

Farida recalls meeting Karan on the set of 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', where he was Aditya Chopra’s assistant. They quickly became close, and Karan often spoke about his aspirations to make his own film, with Kajol, Shah Rukh, and Farida as part of his team. He shared the story of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with her, a film she still considers his best, not just because she was in it. The film's sensitive nature and Karan’s meticulous approach to writing every word and scene left a strong impression on her, and she was moved to tears during the narration.

Karan Johar and Farida Jalal haven't collaborated since 2012. Their most recent project together was Student Of The Year, where she portrayed the role of Sidharth Malhotra’s grandmother.
