A perfectionist that he is, Farhan is apparently willing to go extreme lengths to make his role as Milkha Singh look convincing in his biopic. News is that Farhan underwent a grueling four month long altitude training for a 60 second sequence shot for the song, Zinda, in Ladakh. The song depicts Farhan training for Olympics in picturesque Ladakh with a tire tied to his stomach in a sequence.
To do it perfectly, the actor had to train for around 3 months in Bandra in a higher altitude training center.
After 3 months of continuous training, Farhan trained for another month in Ladakh. Started with walking first and then on to cycling and gradually to running, acclimatizing the body to higher altitudes scientifically.
Altitude training is the practiced by some athletes to increase their endurance level for several weeks at a high altitude location, preferably over 8,000 ft above sea level.
At that altitude, the air contains only about 20.9% of oxygen, making it extremely difficult to do simple activities like walking, let alone running with weight tied on the stomach.
