Farah Khan recalls breaking down on call with Rishi Kapoor after his cancer diagnosis, reveals he kept saying, 'Are chup beth yaar...'
Farah Khan recently dropped by Riddhima Kapoor Sahni’s Delhi home for a cooking vlog with her longtime chef, Dilip. During their chat, Farah opened up about the emotional moment she broke down on a call with Rishi Kapoor after hearing about his cancer diagnosis. She also fondly remembered the late actor’s unshakable positivity.
Riddhima, who is gearing up for her Bollywood debut opposite Kapil Sharma, opened up about leaving her daughter Samara for 45 days. She said, “I never left Samara for three years. The first time I ever left her was when Dad got sick—before Covid, when he was diagnosed.”
Farah then recalled her emotional reaction to the news, saying, “I remember when I got the news, I called Chintu and started crying on the phone, and he was so positive, he kept saying, ‘are chup beth yaar hota rehta hai, kuch nahi hai, main theek hojaaunga (Hey, calm down, yaar. These things happen, it’s nothing, I’ll be fine).’”
Farah also remembered standing up to the late actor when he tried to intimidate her on set. She said, “The last film that Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) did as a hero, Hum Dono, was one of my first movies as a choreographer. He tried to bully me left and right. Then I had to give it back to him. And once you do that, he’s fine. Plus, he worked with my dad in Raffuchakkar.”
Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2018. He then spent almost a year in New York undergoing treatment. After returning to India in 2019, he got back to work and appeared in several projects.
However, his health took a turn for the worse in early 2020, and he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. On 30 April 2020, Rishi Kapoor passed away after battling cancer at the age of 67.
On the work front, Farah recently choreographed Tamannaah Bhatia for the song Gafoor in Aryan Khan’s debut series Ba***ds Of Bollywood. The song quickly became a social media sensation.
