The industry has been buzzing about plans being made to remake 'Satte Pe Satta', a cult classic of the 70s. Speculations have been rife about
Rohit Shetty coming together with
Farah Khan to remake the classic multistarrer, which had
Amitabh Bachchan and
Hema Malini headlining it. Several names have been bandied around when it comes to the casting of the film - from Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan stepping into Bachchan's shoes to Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma taking over from Hema Malini in the original.
Farah put all rumours to rest recently on a live auction-based show for a satellite channel.
She reportedly confirmed that she and Rohit were working on a project, the details of which will be out in a month's time. She added that an official announcement will be made regarding the project.
For those in the dark, 'Satte Pe Satta', directed by Raj N Sippy, was a musical blockbuster in 1982. It took its inspiration from the Hollywood cult comedy, 'Seven Brides For Seven Brothers'. The film also starred Amjad Khan, Ranjeeta Kaur, Sachin, Shakti Kapoor, Paintal, Sudhir, Inderjeet, Sarika, Kanwaljit Singh, Prema Narayan, Mac Mohan and Kalpana Iyer in pivotal roles.
