Surekha Sikri, who played an important part in the film. The actress has won the National Film Award for the best-supporting actress and an emotional Surekha, who has won her third National award spoke to Etimes and expressed her feelings.
She expressed, "National Award for 'Badhaai Ho' is an unexpectedly pleasant surprise.
It is a great feeling right now. I got a call from the director just now informing about the National Award win. I wish he could have won the award. I thank all the people who liked the concept and the film and it feels great when your work gets appreciated."
Surekha Sikri played the Dadi in the movie and her part got special attention from the audience. Sikri had bagged her first National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress, for her role in the 1998 film 'Tamas', the second for 1995 film 'Mammo' and the third for 2018 film 'Badhaai Ho'.
‘Badhaai Ho’ is a story about a middle-aged couple who gets unexpectedly pregnant and how their children and other family members react to the situation. The film not only grabbed eyeballs for its unconventional subject, but also for the noteworthy performances by the actors.
