Exclusive! Pankhuri Awasthy on 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' co-star Ayushmann Khurrana: He breaks the ice and makes everyone feel comfortable

Helmed by Hitesh Kewalya, 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' is all set to hit the big screens tomorrow. The film has been the talk of the town ever since the makers announced it. The film stars Ayushamann Khurrana, Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao and newbie Pankhuri Awasthy in pivotal roles. Pankhuri is a prominent name in the television industry. She is bubbling with excitement as her debut film hits the big screens tomorrow.In a candid conversation with Etimes, the actress spilled the beans about the experience shooting with Ayushmann, Neena Gupta and her the character she essays in the film.
Excerpts from the interview:
'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' is your debut film, how did you react when you bagged the project?
I wasn't really expecting it, because when you are working in a television industry you usually get calls from TV only. I was quite excited and then I auditioned for it. When I finally got selected it was like happiness and mixed emotions.

How did you prep for the film?
When I got the script, the first step was going through the script. Then I had a meeting with the director and he gave the narration because he is also the writer. After that, we had a couple of script reading with the whole team. Working on a film totality was a great experience because being my first film I was really excited. The entire ensemble cast of full of very talented you have been here for very long and who have mastered the craft. They are extremely passionate towards something and that was a great experience for me.
Tell us about your experience of working with Ayushmann Khurrana.
Ayushmann is generally someone very humble and warm. He immediately breaks the ice and makes everyone feel comfortable. He is very grounded and humble. Everybody in the cast would help each other.
Could you tell us a little more about your character, Kusum?
My character is called Kusum. The film is about the Tripathi family from Allahabad and I am their neighbour. They have a son named Aman and everyone wants me to get married to Aman. I also want to get married to Aman and I feel he is the one for me. Eventually, he signed up that he is gay and has a partner. That's what took the entire family by shock because we've shown a homophobic society.

Have you had support from other members from the cast?
I and Neena Ji, we share a great camaraderie on and off the screen. We all used to stay together in Benaras for over a month. She is something who is very open and direct from the heart. Whatever she feels, she tells you. I was just an experience to be with her. They have been scenes when I am with her. She is very helpful and she is that actor who is continuously willing to learn and to give her the best.
Do you have any favourites stars in the Industry?
I am really fond of Shah Rukh Khan and I love how Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt act.
