Babil Khan who is promoting his next OTT release feature Friday Night Plan met up with ETimes.

In this heart melting conversation, when we took him down the memory lane reminiscing his father, Babil shared how he’s a huge fan of his father. When we asked him if he had a chance to discuss work with him, here’s what he had to say, “My work we never got to discuss. He was not there. That hurts me a lot. It’s a pain that I can accept but not stay with. It hurts a lot also because he left before I could make him proud. I wish he saw what I grew up to be. When he passed away, I had just left my university and I wasn’t still very driven enough.”

When we further asked him if he knew acting is what he always wanted to pursue, Babil said, “ I always knew this is what I wanted to do but sometimes in life you know things but you just haven’t realised it. Your being knows where it’s being pulled but your mind is somewhere else. Eventually I got to a place and realised ki yahi toh karna tha.”

Speaking of his father, he recalls how Irrfan Khan would not take himself seriously or life seriously but at the same time be extremely passionate about things. “ It’s a tough balance to match - be passionate about life but not take it seriously. He had achieved that at that stage and to be very honest we both used to believe that he was just starting out and beginning to explore. He was a phenomenal actor even before that but it was now that his journey had actually begun.”
