support for quite some time, filmmaker Nishikant Kamat has left for his heavenly abode. Actor Riteish Deshmukh confirmed the same on twitter. The news has come as a huge shock to the entire

industry.
Talking about his sad demise, director Anees Bazmee exclusively told ETimes, “I am really saddened to hear about Nishikant. He was a good friend and a very down to earth man! We met several times in my office and chatted long about cinema and scripts. I pray may his soul rest in peace and may God bless the family with immense strength to overcome this heartbreaking time.”

Earlier today, after the rumours of his death started doing the rounds on social media, people close to him stated that the filmmaker is very critical and on a ventilator but very much alive. A statement released by the hospital read, “Mr Nishikant Kamat is currently on ventilator support and continues to be in a critical condition.”
After the filmmaker was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad for jaundice and abdominal distention, he was diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections. He has been in the Intensive Care Unit ever since.


Nishikant Kamat is known for Bollywood films like the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer 'Drishyam', and Irrfan Khan’s 'Madaari', John Abraham starrer 'Force' and 'Rocky Handsome'. He had also helmed 'Mumbai Meri Jaan' featuring R Madhavan, Soha Ali Khan, Irrfan Khan, Paresh Rawal and Kay Kay Menon.
