Everyone keeps calling me Mrs Kemmu, which is strange: Soha Ali Khan

The couple who were in Lucknow for a promotional event last week, looked fresh and very much in love.The duo spoke about a lot of things close to their hearts.

LIFE'S STILL THE SAME: Life hasn't really changed for the couple who tied the knot last month, they claim.“Nothing has changed, except that everyone keeps calling me Mrs Kemmu now, which is strange.I don't feel like a Mrs at all but apart from that of course, we are wearing wedding rings and the mehndi hasn't gone off from my feet yet. But thank God, nothing feels different.I am terrified of change and we decided to marry each other with a commitment that we will continue to be the persons that we were before we got married," says Soha. And sharing almost the same notion is Kunal, “We are very happy that it has remained the same. We have been together for sometime now, we were living together before we got married. Sabse pehle yahi duvidha thi ki sab kehte hain life badal jaati hai shaadi ke baad, toh hum chahte thay ki kuchh na badle. Shayad isliye humein itna samay lag gaya shaadi karne mein.Thankfully abhi tak kuch nahi badla hai and I hope it remains the same," says Kunal.
MRS KEMMU: Soha says she is looking forward to adding her husband's surname to hers. “People keep calling me Mrs Kemmu and in my mind Mrs Kemmu is Kunal's mother. Officially I have three names, Soha Sultan is my passport name, some people call me Soha Pataudi, then I am also called Soha Ali Khan. So Ali Khan Kemmu sounds a li'l long. But it appeals to me, I would like to take it up, I think so," she smiles.
But Soha was never too keen on marriage. In an interview last year, she was quoted as saying that marriage is irrelevant to her. Then what actually changed her mind? “To be honest, I was never against marrying Kunal. If ever I wanted to marry , it would have been only Kunal and I said it is irrelevant because I always felt I am married to him. We spent so much time together, we made a commitment to each other.The only reason we decided to formalize it was because Kunal's parents and my mother were very keen on it and it never made a difference to me whether I am married or not and so I said, let's dress up and do it and have a nice day!"

PAPA'S GIRL: Of all the people, Soha says she missed the presence of her father late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi the most on the most important day of her life ­ her wedding. The sense of security Soha gets from Kunal is one among other qualities that she finds similar between him and her father, which was one of the main reasons for the actress to take her relationship with Kunal to the next level. “I miss Papa and he is one of the most unique characters I have ever met. Sometimes I really think what would Abba do in this situation, what would he say in this situation? He had an incredible ability to phrase things, an incredible mind and there is no replacement for him. Of course when you lose your parent, it's like one chapter in your book of life ends. It's difficult but it's a part of life and you have to accept it.And when you look at a man, there are certain qualities that you associate with. I would say , both my father and Kunal are very manly and by that I mean the sense of security that I get from Kunal is the same that I got from my father. I felt safe with my father just as I feel with Kunal and both are brave people. Kunal is very brave and my father certainly always was a very brave man, and humorous too. They both have a very good sense of humour, they both made me laugh,“ she says. And for Kunal it was Soha's eyes that made him fall for her. “I have always said it was Soha's eyes and her accessibility, with her being a down to earth person and her simplicity that attracted me to her,“ he says.
FILM TOGETHER: The couple is open to doing films together but the right script hasn't come to them yet. “I hope to do a film with Soha. We did two films together that's when we got to meet each other. And after that, when we became a couple, a lot of people tried casting us together. I always feel, if at all any film come to us, it should have me as an actor and her as an actress, then only we can do the film together. We are still looking for that scrip but it hasn't come our way yet,“ shares Kunal who is waiting for the release of two films this year -Guddu Ki Gun and Bhaag Johny. While Soha has finished the shoot of movie on 31st October. “I play the role of a sardarni in the film. It's the story a small family based in Delhi and it's a one day-one night story .I have three children in the film and I play the female protagonist. It was a difficult role because there is a lot of action for me to do in the film.“ She will also begin shooting for Ghayal 2, for which the couple had to cancel their honeymoon. “In Ghayal 2, I play a psychiatrist,“ Soha informs.
LUCKNOW'S NAWABIYAT: Asked about they had a connect with Lucknow, and Kunal tells us he's lived in Lucknow for a couple of years when he was two-years-old. “Main apni paidaaish ke baad do saal tak yahan par raha hoon. I barely remember anything as I was too small. My father used to be a teacher in a drama school here. He still comes to city once a year.Since the past three years he has been staging plays and conducting drama workshops with kids in Lucknow. He is a National School of Drama graduate. I would want to come here for a longer to shoot for a of film,“ says Kunal, while Soha likes the Nawabiyat of Lucknow. “I am a student of History , toh iss shaher ki joh ek nawabi history hai, that I like the most. Everybody knows about the Lakhnawi food. So, whenever I come here, I take a lot of semi-cooked kebabs, which we continue to eat for days freezer mein daalkar ,“ she says.
