has turned into reality! The year 2017 started for the brilliant filmmaker on a great note as she won Best Debut Director award for her internationally acclaimed film, Nil Battey Sannata at the Jio

2017 whereas her husband-filmmaker
Nitesh Tiwari bagged Best Director Filmfare award for the Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal.
Receiving two awards in the family certainly becomes a reason for double celebration for Ashwiny.
Ashwiny says, 'I am thankful to receive this important black beauty (Filmfare trophy). It just makes me believe that even more that no matter where you belong to and who you are, you have the right to dream. Thank you Filmfare. Gratitude.'
Produced by Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions, Eros International and Jar Pictures, Nil Battey Sannata featuring Swara Bhaskar, Ratna Pathak Shah and Pankaj Tripathi was also screened at the prestigious film festivals including Silk Road International Film Festival in China and BFI London Film Festival last year.
