A few days after Satish Salian returned to the news, claiming that his daughter Disha Salian’s death was linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s, the CBI filed its closure report. Nearly five years after Disha’s passing, fresh details have emerged, putting her father in a controversial light. The report, cited by Mid-Day, suggests she took her own life due to work stress and personal betrayal.
Professional challenges and personal strugglesAccording to the closure report, Disha had spoken to her close friend and fiancé, Rohan Roy, about the difficulties she was facing. She was upset over two projects that had stalled at her job with Cornerstone Company. Adding to her distress, she discovered that her father had misused her earnings on a female employee from his spice business in Thane, with whom he was allegedly having an affair. This revelation left her feeling deeply betrayed. The report states, "All of Salian’s friends and her fiancé, Roy, also stated in their police statements that she had confided in them about her father’s affair and how he had spent the money she gave him for business on another woman."
Official findings and the family’s reactionA post-mortem report previously confirmed that Disha had died from a severe head injury and found no evidence of assault. However, Satish Salian has dismissed the closure report, referring to a Supreme Court judgment that deems such reports—filed under Section 174 CrPC—legally invalid in criminal cases. His lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, has argued that the report cannot be used to dismiss allegations of serious crimes.
Demand for further investigationOn 17 March, Satish publicly demanded that narco tests be conducted on individuals he believes should be investigated concerning Disha’s death. This includes political leader Aaditya Thackeray and actors Sooraj Pancholi and Dino Morea. He also sought personal security, claiming that previous government inaction forced him to approach the courts.
In response to these claims, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray denied any involvement from his family, stating that any real evidence should be presented in court. Disha Salian died on 8 June 2020, just days before the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. This timing has led to continued speculation and conspiracy theories.
