At the prestigious IFFI Goa event, esteemed director Shekhar Kapur delved into the pressing concerns surrounding Deep Fake technology, emphasizing the nuanced challenge of its responsible use and the inherent difficulties in controlling artificial intelligence (AI).
Expressing his insights during the event, Shekhar Kapur posed a thought-provoking query, pondering whether the core issue lies within the technology itself or the ethical choices made by individuals. He highlighted that simply attributing blame to technology might not provide the complete answer, stressing the importance of understanding how humans employ these advancements. "The question is 'Is it the technology or is it us, the human beings, who are at fault here?' I don’t think the answer will ever be like Technology is the problem, it’s how you use it," remarked the acclaimed director.
In a compelling analogy, Shekhar Kapur drew parallels between the challenges of controlling AI and the complexities of managing social media platforms. He expressed skepticism about regulating AI, akin to the struggles faced in attempting to control the impact of social media.
Shekhar Kapur elaborated, "I don’t know how you control AI, like how you control social media? We have seen what it does. It’s going to be very tough, you are never going to be able to control it. Every time we try to control it (AI and social media) it changes again and we have to control it again. It’s like a mutant."
His insightful remarks shed light on the struggle to manage technological advancements, emphasizing the ever-evolving nature of these innovations.
