Director Raaj Shaandilyaa explains how he cast Mallika Sherawat for 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video'

After shattering box office records with his horror-comedy 'Stree 2', actor Rajkumar Rao is set to release his new film 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video'. The Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial, stars Triptii Dimri alongside Rajkumar in the lead role. Ahead of the film's release, the director shared a lesser-known fact about his decision to cast Mallika Sherawat.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Shaandilyaa said that when he reached out to the actress for the film, at first she thought he was asking her to feature in a dance number, which prompted her to ask about the song.

However, he then told her, "Main bola, 'Gaana nahi hai, ek role hai.'"

Director Raaj said that it was easier to bring Mallika Sherawat on board because she was ready for a fresh and interesting role. He said there was no need to convince her, and she said, "Okay, great character, let's do it!"

He went on to say that she was looking for something that would pique her interest. He also revealed details about the film, saying that it is set in 1997, and has just around 2.5-3% of song sequences.

Meanwhile, Mallika's return to the big screen has generated a lot of buzz and curiosity among audiences.

'Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video', also stars Vijay Raaz, and Tiku Talsania, and is set to release on October 11.
