Director Amit Masurkar, who's last film was Sherni with Vidya Balan, a drama based around tiger conservation in India, has become a jury member for one of India’s only film festivals focused on sustainability and the environment. This virtual film festival will have 55 films this year starting November 17.

This film festival titled ALT EFF aims to promote and stir a conversation on nature, conservation and the environment and it's organised by Kunal Khanna. One of the recent developments is that Sherni director, Amit Masurkar has come on board as a member. Amit’s film dealt with the subject of wildlife conservation and a human wildlife conflict which is in sync with the purpose of the festival.

Speaking about this association, Amit Masurkar said, “Climate change is real and we are facing serious consequences of years of environmental degradation today. ALT EFF is helping create awareness and steer public opinion in favour of conservation and animal rights. I’m honoured to be part of this year's jury and I look forward to watching incredible films from all over the world that have been curated to create a positive change in our thinking and behaviour.”

The festival's organiser, Kunal' Khanna added, "This year ALT EFF will offer the virtual program completely free of cost to audiences across the country. This step brings us closer to our mission of making environmental cinema accessible for everyone and to be a catalyst for environmental action."
