Biopics are the flavour of the season in Bollywood and especially sports dramas seem to have many takers. After biopics on boxer Mary Kom and cricketer, Mahendra Singh Dhoni set the box office on fire, director Shaad Ali is all set to narrate the story of hockey champion Sandeep Singh titled, ‘Soorma’ on the big screen. Diljit Dosanjh who plays the protagonist trained with paralympians to essay the portions in which he is bound to a wheelchair authentically.

A scene depicts the character undergoing rehab and therapy. In order to make it look real in the film, the actor met real life Olympians before the scene was shot.
‘Soorma,’ directed by Shaad Ali was shot in Sandeep Singh’s hometown, Shahabad to ensure that the true essence of his journey was captured. He is known as ‘Flicker Singh’ and is hailed as one of the world’s most dangerous drag-flickers of all time with drag speeds of over 145 km/hr.
