Punjabi singer-actor
Diljit Dosanjh sang the redux version of Sauda Khara Khara from
Good Newwz
with
Sukhbir
(who sang the original) doing the hook line of the number. The recently-released dance track has been steadily rising on the charts. The original number, which released in the era of Punjabi singles and albums in the 1990s, is one of Diljit’s favourites. When we met him recently and asked him if he had reservations about singing a different singer-composer’s number.
To this, Diljit said, “Sauda Khara Khara was very popular in the 1990s. It’s one of Sukhbir paaji’s hit tracks which I loved and I still love. I’m a fan of his work. By the time I came on board, the songs and the album were almost ready. I ended up singing the rest of the song and he sang the hook-line and featured in the video with Akshay Paaji (
Akshay Kumar), Kiara (Advani) and me. I was already acting in the film aur main lalchi kaise banta. Yeh kehne ki poora gaana mere se gava lo to galat baat hai. In fact, I was happy to sing portions of the song with Sukhbir paaji. As his fan, I have danced to his songs when I was younger. So, there is no reason to feel any reservations about this song.”
